Hey everyone I am looking to re-spring my 97 fe501e. Iam 6'.5" 275 so I def need to stiffen it up. I have had some trouble finding heavy fork springs. Slavens lists some for the 98 up wp 50mm extreme forks.

Will these work in my 97 wp50mm forks ? Do springs interchange between the extreme and regular 50mm's ? Any info is appreciated
Thanks !

After doing some reading it looks like the 97's might of also used the extreme 50mm. I am just not sure if there were any differences from 97-98 ? There must be a *********** expert on here somewhere...... lol

Cannon can make any spring you could need. If they don't have info on it just send them the old ones and they can wind whatever rate you want. Not ridiculous expensive for a custom one off job either.

I'm a big boy too at 6'3" and 300 so I've been in the same situation. Have cannon springs in both my bikes, top notch.

Thanks for the info guys. I will try them. I called factory connection a little while back about springs and they wanted about 300 just for the fork springs. I love the bike but don't want to drop 1000 or more on suspension on a 16 year old bike.

How much stiffer do they need to be? ... You could cut the ones you have.

Then you can compensate - up to a point - with different valving.
