I HAVE A 95 FE600 IT WILL BLOW BACK THROUGH THE CARB BUT IT RUNS VALVES ARE SET CORRECT I HAD THE CLUTCH COVER OFF TIMING CHAIN IS TIGHT IT FLUTTERS WHEN ITS RUNNING ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE ITS RUNNING RICH WHAT COULD IT BE?

hy there, i also have just got my self an fe600e elduro which i am playing with, goes great after a bottom end re build and cylinder head rebuild, now its blowing heaps of smoke when its cold, almost like its pumping oil straight into the exhaust, dont know why as it all looked fine when i put it together,!
to set the ignition timing is quite simple, but before you do this get the stator tested as the sem stator is problematic, when you get it tested make sure its done hot and cold and that it advences when its sposed to,give them the coil as well.
if you want to know how to time it just reply, cheers tymo62

just make sure theat the flywheel keyway is in tact as well, mine did the same thing and this is what it was

As far as jetting goes a too lean or plugged pilot jet can cause backfiring through the carb. If it is deceleration popping the opposite is needed (richer pilot).

Unfortunately due to the age of the bike it may be the intake valves are not sealing properly sucking in fuel and igniting it when you don't want it to happen. The SEM ignition fires every revolution of the motor.
