hey,I have a 94 fe 600 which when riding, began revving up, as if in neutral or there was no load on the engine, this happend very abruptly and would fall back into gear, or regain drive, when the revs dropped very low, this only happend in 3rd gear upwards and got progressively worse until there was no drive at all in gears above 2nd, as it was losing drive so quickly, it didn't feel like the clutch slipping although i have just had a look at the gearbox and cant see anything that would explain what happend, so now i'm inclined to think it was the clutch, has anyone had any experience of the clutch slipping very abruptly only in higher gears, probably as its spinning up more?

welcome to UHE keeperlit

hope we can help. nothing like introducing yourself though.....

could you put your location and your machine in your signature sometime?

anyway....

so you're riding along and all of a sudden the revs shoot up? and you're in neutral?

as opposed to

you are riding along and going through the gears, when you get to third the revs sing and you lose drive?

the first one is the gearbox gradually lunching itself and the second is the clutch. could be other reasons but we might need a bit more info.

hey ho, thanks very much, sorry, im matt from norn iron, race in a classics championship and i bought my husaberg ages ago as a bit of a project and cos i love big singles but never could bring myself to move it on

i was trying to decribe the latter, "you are riding along and going through the gears, when you get to third the revs sing and you lose drive"

im pretty convinced its the clutch now, there are two clutch springs missing, probably just to make it lighter, so that combined with slightly worn plates was possibly enough to initiate the clutch slipping so quickly, its just it happend and deteriorated so fast, never had that on a bike b4, and first and second gears were unaffected so i wanted to get at the gearbox to reassure myself

so 2 new springs then and a set of frictrion plates hey!

if you can't find it in the uk try dan at motoxotica in the usa. he has or can get everything.

regards

Taffy
