70 Degree Subframe Tank, Any Updates?

Just wondering how they are holding up? Any issues? Worth the investment? I read somewhere that the exhaust hangers were drooping, is this true?

Only issue with the tank I've had was to redo the hose fittings (input and breather) with some teflon tape. It would have been better to cast those as part of the tank.

The mold is a 3 piece and to cast the fittings would take a 5-7 piece mold and triple the cost and the time it takes to make a tank thus tripling the cost of the tanks. There are over 300 tanks in use. We have had a dozen leak of these 3 were repaired with a fitting reseal, all others were replaced by me. I have the original tank on my bike and have raced 5 AMA National Enduros, a half a dozen hare scrambles, 4 regional enduros and countless hours tested and practicing and have had no issues. We had 3 tanks that were used in the Australian Rally some 10,000 kilometers, I think, with no issues. If you have a problem with the tank I will make it right. Thanks

Sounds like a great product...Backed by great customer service!

I know where to look if I have a fuel range issue.

I have had my sub frame tank now for at least 6 months. No problems with it at all right from the start. No leaks, it fitted perfectly to the bike and John at 70 Degree Racing is a pleasure to deal with even from the other side of the world. In the words of a popular TV host down here.........."Do yourself a favour" Buy one!

I have a leak with this tank.
The brass insert just spins in a circle and gas comes out on the sides of it.
I find it curious that a US company does not have a phone number listed so I emailed the provided address.
I am going to Baja 1000 and in a time crunch.
No return email or call within a week...
The tank is less than 12 months old.
The tank has not been abused.
I am not feeling like a customer with a problem is an issues for this company.
At this point I would look for alternatives to an aftermarket fuel tank.

Odie,

You emailed me on Tuesday morning saying you needed a tank, a follow up email on Wednesday morning, and another on Wednesday evening with less than complimentary remarks. Even though you indicated "you suck" I told you that we would provide you with a warranty tank when available even though the warranty was for 90 days from date of purchase-thanks for letting me know now that the tank is 12 months old.

Sorry to hear about your time crunch, and the leak on your sub frame tank. I'm in a bit of a time crunch myself on these tanks, thanks for not putting the bus in reverse aned backing over me :)

As I mentioned in my email to you this morning we don't have any and are trying to get them back into production. So time crunch or not, we could not have provided you with a tank.

Make the opening a bit bigger between the skin of the tank and the brass element if needed and press some hard soap into the hole. Sprinkle it with some gasoline after that and put the complete bike on the side for half an hour in the direction of the leak.

The soap will react with the fuel and will become hard as concrete and yet a bit flexible. This operation may safe your tank for about three years, enough for 1 or 2 Baja's.

Good luck and take care!

I love these 'old wives' recipes. Like putting pepper in a leaky radiator, grass in a flat tyre, fence post on the swingarm, they make for great stories over beer and best of all they actually seem to work!!

Dale, can I get my replacement tank please? It has been six months since you promised me a tank.. remember mine was leaking at the bottom right hand fender mount.. really want a replacement.. even if its an old one.. I miss the range I used to get

Just be patient, would you like a news tank which would start leaking again in 3 months and lights your bike on fire or....

...get a new tank just a bit later and get a top quality product?

I go for quality and prefer to have it a bit later
