70° engine oil pumps

Just doing so work on a 70° 450.

Workshop manual states that the charge oil pump rotor goes in so the dowel is not visible, the opposite to the suction pump. Well unless I am being very stupid (highly likely!) mine will not go in like that and has to go in the same as the suction pump.

Am I doing something wrong or is the workshop manual incorrect?

I don't see how I can have it wrong just don't want to make a mistake on such a critical component

I see that the manual is incorrect about the water pump shaft seals, is there a list of corrections anywhere?

I don't have the manual infront of me right now but I have no memory of installing the pumps differently. I see no reason why they should be, it's not like the parts are pushed sideways.

I dismantled a motor recently and I did not notice this difference to disassembly, I reassembled the same way .....but I have to look at the internal and external rotor with their marking point on the same side

without having the parts disassembled under the eyes, is it possible to reverse installation ??? the internal rotor would come out of are housing no ?
if the location of the locking pin is just in the middle of the rotor, it can be mounted in both directions and the repair manual would be correct

to note that during the disassembly I found a manufacturing defect on the axis of the pump A:

the hole in the axle for the small pin of maintain of the rotor was not centered

it had to be forced to put the rotor on the axle and this assembly had to put the rotor slightly to cross, very slight trace of wear on the lateral side of the rotor, on the cover and the bottom of the crankcase

90 € a new axle ( 81238102000 )

mantenant I wonder if the axes of pump ktm 690: 77038011100 which costs 30 € could not be suitable. the pump diameters appear identical and only the pump width changes. it might be enough to shorten the axis ktm 690 to make it compatible

Hi, I'm Jakub from Poland. I'm in the process of overhauling my FE570. I ran into the same problem with the oil pump assembly. It cannot be installed according to the instructions.
