Hello, first of all I'd like to say what a great resource this is, just bought 07 650 last week so I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.
The bike starts easy on the button when cold but after a few mins begins to bog until the engine cuts out.I'm told by the previous owner that the bike has had top end rebuild with wossner piston kit, taffys dual valve spring kit and a straight through muffler.
Valve clearance is good, swaped stator with another bike and problem persists, new plug + plug cap, cleaned carb, checked elec conections.
Problem still persists, bike will start cold warm up and start to cut out until it stops. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks , Flyn

Thanks Baldrick

I hadn't checked until your message but I think its fine, I swapped it with one off a ktm50 and the problem still occurred when the bike warmed up. It will start and ride fine, no problems, full power no funny noises for sometimes up to around 10mins then dies out. My first guess was electrical but I'm only a plumber so I wouldn't really know.

Fuel line

Hi mate, i had a similar problem wit a 06 450.Tried everything under the sun including a bike shop and still no go when hot.Everyone kept saying it was a valve issue. I ended up finding that the fuel hose from the "t" between the fuel taps to the carby was kinking when it heated up and got soft and straightening back when it cooled down and got hard. replaced it with some from an auto parts store and it hasnt missed a beat since. All that kicking, pushing and flat batteries for the sake of $2. Anyway it sounds like you may be having similar problems so have a look and see. Good luck.

I know this is old school but I still use a snap on timing strobe to do the ignition timing on older bergs.

but whenever I have this issue I fit it to the plug lead and as the engine is dying I check whether this is an ignition led problem or a fuel problem.

just start it and stare at the flash until you're blind - I mean just , well you know...Isn't it easy when it's explained to you?

good luck!

regards
