650 Model Wheel Confusion

Ive got a 2005 fs650e which has a 5 inch wide rear rim (engraved on the rim says 5x17)

I thought the street models didnt come with 5x17 but a 4.25x17 and cush drive.

I swear my bike has cush drive with 5x17 rim can I be wrong?

Headstock says the bike is a FE model.

Does the 5x17 not have cush drive?

My concern is because I think soon Ill need excel rims and I want to use stock Hubs to keep cost down, is this do-able?

if your bike has cush drive you'll know as sprocket is attached to a disc carrier rather than the solid hub.

you are right about the bikes coming with a cush drive 4.25" width rim as standard and the 'c' with a non cush drive 5" hub

In 2005 the street model FS came with 5" rear wheel with cush drive.
In 2006 the 4.25" wheels returned again on the street models.

Perhaps the return to 4.25" rims was done to prevent the tire rubbing the silencer and also to stop the chain to chew up the tire, which it does depending on which tire brand/model is mounted.

Thank you! That as Ive seen...Show be in the Doc!

And yes the tire is rubbing on the Exhaust which doesnt seem proper for a street machine but I could care less. Only if you hit jumps.
