can any of you fine chaps tell me the I/D of your 650 downpipes please? they're marked as a different part number to the 501/550 pipes.

also the 650 may have a different sized inlet rubber stup. what is the height as it fixes onto the head?

regards

I can help with the downpipe question as Ive got my standards buried in the trailer somewhere....It'll have to be tomorrow though as I've gotta do the inlaws thing today...if you wondering about swapping them for your 550 ones on your 400...they dont go.
A mate has the same downpipes as you on his450 and he tried the 650 which wouldnt fit...will still get you measurements tomorrow though

you don't have to be bamber gascoine to work that one out! the 400's have thick wall downpipes and the 550's have thin wall pipes. i figured in my dreams that 650 pipes were made of *** paper!

then i woke up!

wait to hear from you.

Apologies for taking so long...pipes buried in trailer...trailer buried, full stop...
Ok with the aid of my highly accurate measuring calipers(B & Q 50p tape measure) internal diameter on a standard 650 downpipe =32mm, external =35mm.
Haven't got the inlet stub measurements I'm afraid as I haven't had time to get my bike apart since last time out.
Hope this helps

thanks gix. will find a set used to purchase methinks now. measurement sounds about right and won't be a problem adapting the 650 downpipes for the sakes of dyno research.

cheers

i've bought a system from germany out of ebay. luckily it was very cheap but it would appear that i've wasted my money on this occassion.

the downpipes are the same as my 550 pipes at 29.5mm id. where they enter the head they're larger but that's all so either the german has stuck some 550 headers in the box or i need to get some 650 pipes remeasured.

can i ask someone to check please?

650 downpipes/headers; id of the tail end of them please? anyone else know what would make the 650 pipes different from the 550's otherwise?

regards

Taffy

The difference on the 550 and 650 is,i think ,the bending of the pipes.650s cylinder is so much higher,650 has got 4 more links on the camchain than the 550,that would do about 20mm in cylinder length.
