Hello all husaberg lovers. Im new to the bike and fairly new to the forums. I've been having some problems with my 93-94 600fe. After testing my factory stator (to taffymeisters specs) I found out that the stator was bad. I chewed on the $500 price tag for a rebuilt... then I looked online and found a new one for $300. That was what I could afford right now.
I bolted it on and guessing the 70 degree angle after a few times adjusting I finally got a backfire. So I kept kicking and she finally started. The bike idled great. I revved it a couple times and she started backfiring ( I figured it to be due to the pint of fuel that I sprayed into the air intake. Then she stopped backfiring. I drove the bike for a few miles on some trails after a couple of miles it seemed that I had a slight misfire while fluttering the throttle around2nd gear. then i took her back to the garage. I noticed that the cooling fan does not work nor the headlight or signals. The brake light works. Then yesterday after 20 minutes of hard cranking she finally started again. This time out on the trails. I pulled over to talk to my son. The bike was idling then died. I tried for an hour to restart. I finally made it to an asphalt hill. Walked all the way up and rolled down. I got some fluttering out of the exhaust. It wanted to start.. I think the carb is plugged again. Oh yeah, the bike has been sitting for a couple of years.
I've owned a Zilla 500 so I understand tdc starting.. so I think.. lol. I don't want to be one of those stories about owning a crappy husaberg.. I want to RIDE!
I plan on (eventually) shipping my old stator to taffymeisters and having a backup.
I've read a bit about timing the engine. The factory stator has a slot where a 1mm drill bit can be installed and that's in time.. but this aftermarket stator does not have one. Any good links out there for someone using a timing gun and making a mark on the flywheel?
I have used silicone to seal up the throttle cable air leaks. And have a new throttle cable on the way.. I have a 99 manual downloaded to my phone.. but cant find anything for my year. When i get home tonight im going to pull her apart and check some things out. Ill update again tomorrow. :ninja:
