I've just re-greased the steering stem bearings on my 2010 FE570 (preventative maintenance) and was after the procedure used to refit the triples, well tighten the top triple to the steering stem to ensure correct pre load on the steering stem bearings.
I hope this is easy to follow.
I have fitted everything loosely, forks are in(lower triple clamp is done up, top is still loose on forks) I have nipped up the big nut on the top, then do I do up the 10mm bolt in the top triple to lock it to the stem, then continue tightening the big nut on the steering stem till its tight.
Sorry for sounding stupid but I have only done the older style of head set, and I do not have the workshop manual.
