has anyone had a radiator cap fail ? I went for a ride the other day and it pumped coolant all over the motor and my boot. When I refilled it (just over the core ) the top of the radiator and cap were not red hot, it did the same with the coolant level ending up well below the core. It only seemed to happen in 2nd-3rd gear flowing sections when getting on the gas hard, braking, then on it again. I did a licence test the previous day ( putzing around at 50 km/h through town) and it was fine. I searched the cooling forum for answers and ran the bike with the cap off at normal temp and had no bubbles at the filler neck. The cap looks okay is there any way to test it ?

There is a tool for testing the pressure of caps but it is expensive. Some local parts places here in VA have them like Advanced Auto. Easy thing to change out the cap and they aren't to expensive. You can use any cap of the same pressure number or higher. My FX has a 1.8 cap on it stock.

Turns out it the weep hole spraying all up on the motor and header. :cuss: At least there is some advice in here about how to do it without pulling the clutch cover.

weep hole is above water pump to the right.whip off the water pump housing and check the nut that holds your impeller on is in place and not fallen off,,hence water not being recycled through your engine,it happened to me and i replaced the impeller which was broken and locktight the nut in place,no further problem. hope this helps.
