570 injector cleaning / removal

Having a hot start issue with the 570 and it appears it may be caused by a dirty / dripping injector. The question is do fuel injector cleaners work or am I better off removing it and having it cleaned properly? With regards to removal is there anything I should be aware of? I've got the fuel tank off at the moment and after having a look at it, it appears I need to remove the rubber airfilter housing from the throttle body to access the 2 screws on the top of the fuel rail. Then it looks like I just remove the 2 screws and the injector should just pull out from the throttle body. Does that sound about right? Last thing, how tight of a fit is the breather hose that goes on top of the valve cover meant to be? My hose isn't a tight snug fit as I can slide it off without any issue. Any info would be great.

injector cleaning

yes the 2 screws holding the injector are the only thing holding it, however the injector itself has an o ring that you may damage while pulling(and twisting) it out as it has had to deal with lots of heat over time. I would replace this o ring. I believe there is also a second o ring inside the injector that you will want to replace...Mine were pretty deformed but intact and had re used them because I hadn't ordered the o rings and it still works fine.
Chances are the pre filter in injector housing is clogged. I couldn't figure out how to remove this filter but was able to clean it with air pressure and a small pick tool. Be gentle pulling off rubber boot and make sure the clamps and boot are well lined up when replacing. I actually cut through the boot overtightening the clamps. good luck!

hose

the hose should be snug enough that it won't come off. There is at least one horror story of the breather hose coming off whie riding and chewing up the entire motor with sand...you could put a dab of silicon on it.

send it out to be flow tested before and after cleaning, theres a place in ct i send injectors for project bikes to.they give you a printout of all the specs

Well I got the injector out with no issues. Had it cleaned and tested, it's all good and doesn't leak. Apparently it had a fair bit of build up in it which was removed with cleaning. It was on,y tested up to the equivalent of 12000RPM and it experienced no issues. Not sure if it was leaking before cleaning as this wasn't checked on the bench prior to cleaning. Just finished putting it back in but it won't be getting tested until mid week when the new breather hose turns up. Hopefully the hot starting will be improved though.

Put a clamp on the hose off the valve cover. If that hose comes off the engine will suck in dirt and small rocks via that hose. That hose bypasses the air filter.
