Just wanted to let 09 riders know make sure start button wires are in solid. Mine were not, had a flame out, with a Rekluse clutch and my day was over. Jumped my solenoid after about 15 minutes of checking fuses and stuff, started right up but day was over!

Interesting point this and the last thing i need to convince myself over before ordering a 570 with rekluse. What happens you flatten the battery on a ride? You cannot bump start it if i understand right. Can you use jumper leads to start from another bike?

I have never come close to running the battery down yet and thats with the cooling fan running most of the time. I do carry a small set of motorcycle jumper cables with me though.

I have not read one post in 8 months where the new berg has been stuck because of a flat battery, which bodes well.
I think one guy had a faulty battery from new and had to change it, but it seems like the berg battery is a poky little bugger.
I have a rekluse with my 570 and its great. I think you may be able to bump it, if you carry a spare drive plate and take up the gap.
Dont know the details but there is a thread somewhere on ktm talk.

Where were they loose at? Are they bullet type connectors or a modular plug?

It was the bullit connectors from the start switch,I hard wired them, it won't happen again!I purposly beat the hell out of my starter to try to make something fail and I can't! Had a 2hr h/s in Angel fire NM and the bike was flawless again!

Right on!

I rode the Idaho City 100 weekend before last and my 570 worked flawlessly as well.

I have a bike with a kickstarter. In a minor off-trail excursion last fall, I did something that killed my e-start. i just kickstarted the bike until I got a chance to figure out what the problem was.

It may be a while before I consider purchasing a dirtbike w/o a kickstarter. Call me a luddite.

I have 1 meter wire in my backpack just for that!

I made a jumper from battery charger cable. Handy to have now that most people have them hanging of bike.

One last thing I'd like to add,

On all my bikes I go through and fill all the electrical connectors with Dielectric grease. This keeps water and crud from entering the connectors and causing corrosion. This is especially nice when you need to take the connectors apart.

Although most of the connectors on the newer bikes have an O ring in them to seal them, they still deserve some attention. Connectors like those found on the start wire connector to the solenoid, and a few others definitely need some attention. I put enough grease in the connectors so that when I push the connector together it forces some grease out.
