Hello, I can't get my 550into neutral while running unless I'm doing a little speed rolling, it goes into neutral straight away if engine is stopped, don't have any issues with any other gears, can anybody help please?
welcome to the berg world of neutralism.. every one i've ever had has done it. you can either go to great effort and polish and smooth all affected surfaces or learn to live with it. perhaps that's why the gave it electric start. the rolling neutral habit is an easy one to learn.
In 1rst gear.
Rev a bit
Ease clutch out to make it move a little
Close throttle and slightly pull clutch in
Shift into neutral as revs are dropping
Max of 1.5 seconds for above sequence.
Sometimes, just revving it a little it will click in as the revs drop. *rare…
I've just recently discovered that same technique Idle is suggesting, and it works indeed! But I usually shift all the way down when stopping and put neutral just before the wheels stop.
Usually a tiny preload on the gear shifter from first to second, with a little clutch engagement, then a little bit of gas (brapp!) and it will be in neutral.
Gotta love this quirk, at least I won't have to worry about false neutrals.
