A few bucks here (tires, brakes, some other bits) and there (seals, springs, revalving by Dicks) and the 600 (nee 501) is ready for action (just need some tracks to open!).

One question though- does anyone make a fork brace for the WP fork? I tried the SRC brace that they thought would work, but it didn't fit around the legs.

Thanks,
Walter

failing that, what you can do-and it isn't cheap! is to change the bottom part of your fork legs and run the far larger and later wheel spindles from the '04 onwards. you'll then need the spindle and new wheel bearings but it should be worth it.

if the local engineer thinks that there's enough meet in the originals he will machine them for you.

Hi Taf,

I fitted a late model wheel to my 98 501 as mentioned in a previous post. Long story to fix a rim. Got some new spacers machined up that fit into the bigger bearings and my original axle on the WP Extremes. Means I have captive spacers.

Walter,

I had a fork brace machined to suit for my GPZ1100 B2 years ago. A piece of billet and someone who knows how to use a mill and it shouldn't cost a ridiculous amount.

Nice looking 501. Tyres are a bit smooth for around here though. Are your plastics standard, or aftermarket? My yellow is so faded and cracked now I may have to replace them. Yours look great.

Thanks Taffy- that's a bit more than I want to tackle right now. I'm going to wait and see how it works after the other work I did before doing that.

It's just good photogrophy
Although I spent some time and elbow grease on the bodywork, it photographs better than it looks in real life.

There's no dirt at one track around here and the other only has it sometimes
