I think they changed after 2002, so pre'02 not compatible with after '02. But not 100% sure with rockers.

The hot set up for the 2000 is to replace the rockers with 03's you just have to drill a hole in the 03 rockers for splash oiling. I suppose the reverse would be true, however the 03 rocker is superior to the 2000. Check with Taffy he is usually a good source for parts and info and he's a limey too !

ive got a snapped rocker, it was only because i found some 501 rockers on ebay,

just to let you know that after crudely measuring with a vernier the centre to centre of the three types of head i have here i have found the following.
old 1997-2000 FE400 head
inlets = 36mm
exhausts =34mm
2001 - 2003 FE400 head
inlets = 40mm
exhausts = 34mm
2001-2003 all 501/550/650 heads
inlets = 40mm
exhausts = 38mm
the only two missing here are the early 501/600 head and the 2004 plus head. i'll get those when they come up unless someone else wants to gerrin there!
from the above you can try various rocker arms knowing that at least they'll push down the middle of the valve.
