.48 and 8.8 Report

I should have done this sooner as it works great! I had 4.6 with 8.8 and the bike was indeed out of balance for a 210 lb rider. The fork was riding in the harsh part of the stroke and now is riding above that most of the time.
The back end even works better as a result of the new found balance.
If you are about 210lbs with 4.6 springs and a 8.8 you might want to consider the change as it has made me happy.
Good Luck,

.48 WP and 8.8WP-Sag 105mm

The bike turns good and threads the needel for moto and off road.
I had to raise the forks to the first line to get the turning back and that was it. They were flush with .46 and that was stock on my Fc.

RE: .48 WP and 8.8WP-Sag 105mm

Who made the 8.8 spring? Is it progressive?
Also did you revalve at all? How much oil do you have in the forks?

I am in need for stats. Thanks in advance!

Dicks Racing did the shocks!

The 8.8 spring is a straight rate(105mm sag) with the blunt nose needle that was made to use with a straight rate spring. **** has used the progressive in the past on the Bergs but they had the other style needle that was made for it. He prefers the straight rate since 05 and I think he knows his stuff! My forks have been done two times to get them to work this good but money well spent. The thing that has impressed me is the ability to handle rocks as well as moto and that is no small task. I am running about 130mm of 5wt oil if that sounds correct? I know it was on the low side as any higher caused a harsh mid stroke spike that is now gone. I will not go back to a progressive as the front wheel did not seem to stick in corners with bumps. The kick seemed worse to me as well and the shock on the 05 has that blunt nose needle ,and from what I here from Terry Hayes is that it was designed to go with the straight rate. ( 5mm preload spacers on springs was fine)
Good Luck,

i've Pm'd you to get both your rear sag figures? i don't know! half a bloody job again! :spank:

i think your 8.8 is still too light mate? 9.0 or even 9.2/9.4?

i did a set of 43's with just 42/44's fitted and went to 140 air gap. stopped the zip tieabout 3mm from the bottom of the leg.... with a big jump it may be necassary to go 135 or, like you 130. my own 48's are at 140 with the .48 springs fitted.

keep it coming!

what's up this tme froggy? you scheming again! :eep:

Taffy
