in the doc..it says it is possible to remove the counter balance to eliminate possible failure ..have any of you done this ? if so is the vibration really bad ..if it is can this cause any other problems ? also can the counter balance bearing inner ring be removed and used with the spacer already present togeather to make the 7.4 mm spacer.. required if the counter balance is removed ...hope this makes sense .

ok (again!) miragev!

the counterbalancer lose causes heavy vibration changes at idle and just off. if you putter about you'll feel it. it also comes back at the very highest revs!

there seems very little point in destroying a perfectly good bearing when you're not 100% that you're doing the right thing! an engineeer should knock your ring up for small squerrel nuts!

several have run without the balancer including me, and i race, however it still wasn't worth it as it is tiring w/o it. just my opinion.

it is possib;le to have the crank re-balanced and the ratio is also noted in the rebuild section at (i believe ?) balance factor of 70% plus or minus 5%.

hope this helps!

hi taffy
thanks for the reply i spoke to dcr about the counter balance bearing and they told me the single race is no longer available and they now do 2 narrower ball races which they have specially ground to size to fit .....they sit side by side in the counter weight and you no longer use the retaining circlip because they are slightly wider so it won't fit have you heard about this if so what do you think
cheers ..

yes i've heard of it and it's good to go!

they've even upgraded the factory bikes for this year with a new supa-dupa bearing which someone here may well rember where it came from and give you a link to it....! we hope!

i may have even put it in the doc a few months back.

it's up toi you, you have my opinion.

regards

Taffy
