450 ticking in top end

Do the 70 degree motors make a lot of top end noise? Mine seems to have quite the valve train tic to it.
 
first thoughts are that your cam chain tensioner isn't ratcheting up. try and hold it while the engine is running and maybe the noise is emanating from there.

Just bought the DJH cam chain tensioner. I'm going to check the valves and install that DJH part.
I just rebuilt my kx 250 this past weekend, man I miss the simplicity of the ole 2 strokes... :)
