450 2004-2008 poor idling etc

This is not a husaberg issue.....this is an issue covered by the now deceased Mr Persig in his book zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. He concluded a quality job is a combination of care and experience. A lot of experience but little care can have the same result as no experience but a lot of care/time. Of course a lot of experience and care lifts productivity and is best. He also considered following the maintainence as listed in the manual versus only fixing when something goes wrong......Taffy give the mechanic a copy of the book zen and the art of motorcycle maintainence without any explanation?

The 450 has a shorter stroke, so less vacuum signal. The bore is big on these so cylinder filling is probably sensitive in some operating conditions. Points to the carb imo.

I really can’t see a worn slide with varying and turbulent airflow passages around it as something you can control for with static non-turbulent jets.

I’d be considering a vacuum gauge and wideband air-fuel ratio meter coupled to reasonably fine-grained digital logging.

Are leakdown and compression signs good?

Update. My biggest problem was the fuel mixture screw. When I bought the bike, it had a plastic Tokyo mods screw in place of the stock screw. There was no o-ring near the knob to keep dirt from the space around the screw, and it was muddy in there. My all balls rebuild kit came with a new screw, so I installed it. But I wasn't happy with the fitment of the o-ring on that screw either. And it didn't run much better.

I had also bought a JD jetting screw, and installed that this weekend. It fit much better. And I've now had my first ride without the choke on. It idles off choke just fine. It's now going to be fun.
