I bought a shot Hsb 400, and repaced the engine with a 650. Now the carb is still from the 400, and as soon as I get my new cdi, I'm planning to go riding.

Will the carb cause me any troubles? If it will, how do I prevent it? Which jets must I cange and what sizes do I need for the 650 setup? I dont want to change the carb if I don't have to..

Hope to find help here..

Thanks in advance!

Carb

Hi, byggern...

Carb on 400's was a Dellorto PHSB38 (flat slide) or PHM38 (round slide); 501, 600, and 650's had PHM40. Newer bikes have Keihin FCR carbs. Suspect carb will strangle the 650, may not flow enough AIR to do the switch justice.... REALLY SHOULD change it out!
The Dellorto PHM40ZS is the one on my'98 fc501.Might be one in our classifieds, and you should be able to find one on ebay or craigslist. Some of the members may have a used Dellorto far cheaper than new or ebay.
If you haven't already, go look at the "Owners Doc" link on the left sidebar - lots of info there by long -time, long-term 'berg owners.
WHERE ARE YOU?????????? Country, region, Island, town, borough??????????

what year 650? get the intake boot for the 400. jetting shouldn't be that far off.
