When these tanks went out of production I began looking for a used one. Found one for real cheap on ebay in Vegas. Bought it and had it shipped to me only to find that it leaked from both of the petcock mounting areas. Apparently this is common with aftermarket tanks (I've had several for KTM's and this is news to me but...whatever) so I filed the areas to creat nice flat spots for the petcocks to mount to where the o-rings will seal better. Then, to my extreme dismay, I found an additional leak at the seam around the tank support area near where it fits over the frame. Mind you, this is a brand new tank! There was none of the typical discoloration that you find with a natural tank (and this is a natural tank) and a significant amount of use. Plus, there's no way it would have held fuel long enough for someone to actually go for a ride with it the way the petcock mounting areas were leaking. Anyway, I spent further time working on the area of the leak with thin polysulfide and the tank under vacuum. Haven't gotten up the nerve to try it yet.
Anyway, the point is, if this tank does, by some miracle, go back into production, please do something about the, apparently common, area of leakage at the seam underneath the tank. If this is accomplished, I would buy one to replace the leaker and my brother would buy one.
