Just to finish off this subject, I spoke with Peter from HMS and he sold me a replacement needle and needle jet. He said this was a common problem with this carb. The needle wears where they touch or rattle from the engine vibration. Surprisingly, it fixed the problem about 95%. I can live without perfection. It runs great now. They were stock parts not a change to the jetting. Thanks for everybodys input.
