Just curious since I can't seem to find the info.

What is the cost of the 380 kit? Does it improve fuel range any?

Thanks

all you need to do is price up the linar, (2001 to 2003) the piston, little end bush and a headgasket for it. that's it! four parts. it really does just slot back together. i would always check the squish and the valve to piston clearance with the plasticine.

if you're in the UK let me know.

BTW, it would be nice if you could put your location and model somewhere in your signature.

Look at the opporunity i have this morning....and I'll take it with grace.

I'm going to correct Taff, LOL. He needs a kit from Husaberg.com, engine spare parts section. The only component missing is a cam chain link. I'm not sure why Taff has a small end bush noted, its not needed.

It makes the bike feel lighter, so it is WAY easier to ride in tight trees. Fuel mileage depends on your riding habits and terrain.

Taff, whats with the bushing?

i thought the 400 was the only bike with an 18mm little end?

I did after this post. I guess it doesn't update.

You may be right Taff, just had to poke a little fun at you. The kit is complete, so there is no worries about pieceing the proper year of components together. However, I don't believe teh parts are special made, so the later years 400 must have the larger pin.

Azren, for tight trees, you'll love the bike. I've built a couple, the last with a 400 EXC cam, which I really liked. There is a thread here, from last week, about the cam.

380s are awesome!! I have heard that there will be a sleeve down kit coming next year for the 09 FE450.

I have no doubt the kit is fantastic. I was just curious about the cost of the kit (because my dealer is closed Sun - Mon and I'm impatient) and if anyone noticed any fuel savings. The recomended jetting is considerably leaner than I am running on my 450. Thought it would be a nice bonus to get a bit of extended fuel range out of the kit since there's no way I'm hauling 4 gallons of fuel around on this bike.

Its good that you metioned recommended jetting, which is with a DVT needle. The 380 will pull similar jetting as the 450, with a DVR needle. The only trouble I had was with the accelerator pump, which was way to fat. Also, float height had to be set properly, as any extra sloshing would make the bike burble.

hi fry

no, the 400 always had a smaller little end than the others - right to the end. all i can think is that the piston they fit is NOT an OEM 400 but one for that kit. as standard: the 400 was 18mm and the rest are 20mm.

I used an R&D Powerpump on my 380 for simple accelerator pump tuning and DVR needle in pos 5 or 6.And it´s a special piston(dome type with 20mm wrist pin)in the 380 kit.The 400 piston has a flat top.

i knew it had to be differewnt. but domed???? i get it...to get the compression back. the bikes got virtually no squish!

thanks FSF. how come you're such a clever boy?
