had a bike in recently

no nuts on the inlet rocker pads - so they'd wound out completely!

checked further in and the decomp stop had broken off. the only place this stuff can fall and be safe is behind the drive side nylon chain tube. there is a shelf there and even though one part was 6mm and the other 8mm across...they'd stayed there!

i dropped the oil. 4 pints of petrol, i said FOUR PINTS OF PETROL came out. later on i wanted to wipe some grim off the sprocket so i dipped the rag in the "oil (LOL!!)" and it WASHED the sprocket beautifully!

thought i'd do the 'Taff's crescent mod so off came the clutch and i flicked the oil pump wheel. mmmm! very easy! half of me said get on, the other half said check it. after a coupla minutes i said WTF and did it. doesn't help that i can't find my snap-on 2.5mm allen head and had to undo the three notoripously tight screws deep in the shafts of the engine!

but i did it.

no pin under the four cornered centre section of the pump. the guy has been riding it with no oil pump working.

wanted to remove the endless camchain. ask yourself this? how would you do it?????????? aha! grind a link. have you ever heard of the mechanic who daren't do this because the ENGINE MIGHT CATCH FIRE! after spraying detergent on the engine i then had 'the minerals' to do it.

oh! the two tappet locknuts?

never did find them!

what an engine!

no names, no pack drill gentlemen.

Hey Taff. Was it still going just before you got it? Surely not.....

If it was it kinda makes a mockery of the whole "gotta-change-the-oil-every-friccin-day-or-it'll-blow-up" thing!

well the fella brought the bike to me after he'd tried to start it for 5 weeks. all he'd managed to do was get it home.

he delivered it to me and i started it first kick-no choke.

if i'd known what was in the cases i'd have refused to. now imagine the bike with a holed piston...... doesn't bear thinking about! LOL!!!! they'd be scraping me off the ceiling!

i've never changed the oil every ride, not even 3. however, if anything is going wrong inside you aren't going to spot it. it was the 'O' ring in my keihin that finally sent my big end over the edge.

Do you think he had been ridin it without the oil pump goin?
How much other damage did that do ? Cam/top end screwed?
How does someone get that much fuel into an engine and how the hell did you manage to start it like that?

Gotta be leaking carbie float valve combined with fuel **** left on or leaking. Fuel overflows into intake manifold, past open or leaking intake valves & past rings. Were the carb vent hoses blocked?

Was just kiddin Taff, tryin to make point that reliability is not always proportional to no. of oil changes.

how astute of you bundy!

he had connected the two breathers on one side to one another!
