I was reading through the "doc" and it indicates that Husaberg fitted '03 + bikes with a second earth? My '03 400 had one earth. Did they do that on all bikes manufactured or did they start doing that half way through?

Thanks.

Hey kzoo.
I believe the 2001 and 2002 models came from the factory with a very wimpy earth so guys ended up adding a second one or simply replacing with heavier wire. In 03 or 04 the factory changed mounting locations as well as started using a proper heavy earth cable.

My 2005 model has just one cable fyi.

the 2003 only came with two earth cables. it's clearly visible. thing is, husaberg were groping in the dark for reasons why their bikes weren't starting and this was one of the ideas.

to be back to one isn't a problem. time and this website has proved that the 6/7 things that phuqed with the bikes are known and a poor eartyh (as it transpired) wasn't one of them!

my list of horrors for 2002 would read:

SEM ignition - no good for starting, or in water. turned over too slowly to reach minimum ampage
decomp poor design and wore away
alloy camwheel - enough said
cam follower bearings - a weakness
cam chain tensioner blade - not thick/strong enough
cam chain tensioner - aluminium wore away
manual decomp - wrong shape
cheesy camchain - meant cam timing always out by as much as half a tooth
ignition timing marks - not at TDC

you can't fightl this lot!

Interesting, I bought my '03 used so I wonder if the previous owner removed the second :?: The one that's on there is terminated at a tapped hole on the starter bracket, where'd the other one terminate?

The urethane chain roller wheel bolt. As Taffy said the ground to the starter bracket is all that you need. But if more is better..............
