2013 Husaberg dealer show Idaho city
Went to the 2013 Husaberg showing at Idaho City the 22 of October with some dealer friends of mine.
They had FE250, FE350,FE501, TE250 and TE300 about six of each model to ride.
I am not easily impressed with all the new bike hype every year from all the manufactures BUT I have to admit these new Husabergs work great for being new out of the crate.
They look excellent but I am not in to how pretty a dirt bike is , I wanted to know how they work.
As a hard core FE570 owner I will admit the new FE501Husaberg suspension feels good , it’s not mushy or loose feeling or to stiff ( remember these are enduro bikes not Mxers )the bike holds a tight line on single track dirt trails when turning. I was impressed how well they worked in sand whops. It tracks straight on the trails or the sand. With the new 20* clamps the bike carves a very controllable turn in sand for being new with no personal setup.
I only rode a total of forty or fifty miles but I feel the bikes have a lot of potential.
I rode them all but my favorites are the FE 501 and the TE300 .
They all had smooth track able power delivery in respect to the different engine sizes.
Only Husaberg (not KTM) changed the leverage on the rear shock by moving the bottom mount back and increasing shock length by nine millimeters ,(don’t worry this does not raise the back of the bike) seems to give the tire better traction in slick conditions ( it started to rain and snow on us in the afternoon), did not matter , the bikes hookup great and the riding was still excellent!
We were told the Husaberg is the premium bike in the KTM lineup, with the way the forks and rear shock and new swingarm work and with the excellent over all handling and balance of the bike, I agree with them.
I will never sell my FE570 but I am going to have to have one of these new Husabergs, just not sure which one, I’ll bet the TE300 and the FE501 would make a nice pair, maybe I’ll sell the house and buy a tent!!
