2013 FE 501 fuel leak

Hi,

I have recently bought a second hand Husaberg FE 501. Unfortunately it has a fuel leak when running. I have traced the origin of the leak to the topside of the throttle body.

I did this by dismantling the bike to get the throttle body off then reconnecting the tank and blipping the starter button to engage the fuel pump. I think that the fuel may be coming from the junction between the fuel rail and injector but i'm not sure.

Should I be able to separate the fuel rail and injector? They are shown as separate parts on the parts diagram but i can't get them apart. I have since put the bike back together in the vain hope that it was a loose connection but it appears to be worse!

Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Ian

It is very likely the injector to rail o-ring, or the rail to 90 degree fitting o-ring that is leaking. If the injector is difficult to extract from the rail rotate it while pulling. When I replaced my injector it took a good bit of force to remove the first time around.

Replace both o-rings and be very careful upon installation as they are easy to pinch when pushed into the rail openings. Use a small bit of lubricant as this helps to prevent damage to the o-ring.
