I have a 2011 FE570 I bought new, that now has 65.3hrs that has been used exclusively in the woods. I recently noticed the bike is smoking on startup, and also after it idles for a brief time if you crack the throttle quickly. Once the initial puff of smoke clears it doesn't visibly smoke anymore, but if you ride behind it you can smell a faint smell of burnt oil. It also burnt about 10oz of oil over the last oil change at 15hrs. Any thoughts on what it could be, I change the air filter after every ride ( I actually do, I have 7 air filters for this bike ), and change the oil and filter religiously at 15hrs. I didn't expect to have to open this motor so soon, but I guess that's what its going to take?

So if your air filter isn't over oiled and you have the correct amount of oil in the motor then its probably time for new rings.
Definitely not an over oiled filter, and I've heard about the oil level possibly causing this. So I've ruled that out too. I guess rings could be it, but it just seems to soon at only 66hrs. I guess I'll tear it down and report the findings.
