2011 FE390 - Idle speed adjustment?

Hi guys,

I picked up a brand new 390 several weeks ago and have been finding that after 10 minutes of riding (once fully warmed up?) the idle is much much faster than it normally is after starting.

I have identified the idle speed adjustment knob and confirmed it's not pulled out. Also, i did some turning of it, but a little confused...

The knob was turned 3 clicks from all the way left. Or it was turned 3 clicks clockwise from the dealer.

I had planned on playing with this, but figured maybe someone would know, i assume turning clockwise increases idle speed? (assuming turn 'right' is ON/higher, turn 'left' is OFF/lower?)

anyone know for sure? the manual doesn't say

thx!

On my 570, anti clockwise increases idle speed. Shouldn't be too difficult to sort anyhow. Turn it one way and if idle speed increases just turn it the other!

anti-clockwise, so to the left = faster

I'm gonna go play with it after work, but yesterday before my ride i turned the knob, starting by turning anti-clock/left.

I was able to turn it 3 clicks until it stopped. I then proceeded to turn it clockwise/to the right, and it turned over 20 times before I returned it to the org. setting.

I quickly tried to adjust it on the trail, but engine was just way to hot to get in there and get a good turn on it.

will try later today and let you know

cheers

so i spun the hell outta that dial today... It seems to have about 40 clicks from end to end!

I started @ the far right/full clockwise. Bike wouldn't even start. 5 clicks to the left, still no start, 10 clicks, still nothing.

So i go in a different direction... I go back to how it came from the dealer... 3 clicks from full Counter-Clockwise and spin it a bit more, I end up @ 10 clicks from full counter clockwise.

bike starts, and after a bunch of riding it seems to idle just fine! no faster/slower than expected.

cheers

jeff

i was only turning with the bike off, assuming that was the way to go, but good point... easy enough to have it running and turn to 'see' it change the idle either way.

I thought I saw somewhere these bikes like 14-15 clicks. rpms should be around ~1700 for fully warmed up idle.

Before I cold start the 570 I always back this dial out (anti clockwise) 10 clicks instead of pulling it out to activate the choke/cold start circuit. Using the choke the bike revs too high which I don't like on a cold engine. Using the idle adjuster I can get it just right then dial it back in when the engine is warmed up.
