Point well taken! This is a work in progress to say the least. Seems like the smartest/shortest line of travel would be to know what the design engineers were thinking when the bike was coming together - EPA/import requirements and/or manufacturing costs. The regulators and bean counters have an unfortunate effect on so much of what we end up with. I’m excited for the process none the less.

Thanks again for all your sage advice and input folks. This is a good group to be a party to.

your cam is out of a Honda C90. I raced these bikes for 3 years and went through all this at the time. But you'll never see it written by anyone else because nobody else is clever enough to index the cam.

One thing you'll soon learn on any web site is that there are as many arseholes as there are people. sorry, I meant, there are as many opinions as there are arseholes. there, that's better!

Jon didn't say there was an improvement and I think I said that it was unnecassary. neither of us believe though that this is where you should be searching.

what I will disagree with is the idea that any bike runs lean and needs fuelling up. BUT, if it is true, then that is the source of the heat problem and not the exhaust.

a rich combustion chamber is 500c
a perfect mixture produces around 800c
but a lean mixture sends the temperature up to 1,300c

I don't believe these EVER run lean but if someone else can say that then so be it.....
