Went for a long ride today
Had trouble restarting bike twice after stalling and not getting it to fire on first try
Not a battery issue as it turns over normally, just doesnt fire
One time I was at the top of a big hill and tried to bump start it for about a 1/4 mile with no result
Both times bike fired up normally after 15-20 minutes break
Bike is stock except for 70 degree racing map switch
Any ideas??

Could you hear the fuel/feel the fuel pump come on after hitting the start button? Seems to be a common problem with the 09/10 bikes, maybe they have not fixed the problem yet. At least yours turns over properly. I am having fuel pump and hot start decompression problems.

Thanks for the reply wtm. I can hear the fuel pump pressurize as soon as I turn the key.

have you checked the valve clearances ?
Thanks for the reply wardy. Getting it done this week. Neverthless, don't see why waiting 15 minutes would make a difference if it was a valve clearance issue.

when it is hot the valves will expand ever so slightly and when it cools they contract back. this slight expansion can put them out of tolerence.

Best to get them checked if only to rule them out as the cause

Your pump is starting to fail, that's the same thing mine did. Lot's of talk about it in the fuel section:

As well as on KTMTalk.

Have you dealer contact KTM, they will replace it under warranty.

WOW...first thread read after joining makes me a little skeptical. I'm wanting to purchase a 2011 FE 570...this doesn't give me warm fuzzies...Other than this...how's the bike?

Still have not solved the issue but then have not tried to find the cause because have not ridden in a while
Overall the bike is awesome!

UPDATE: Hot start issue got worse. Bike left me stranded twice this past weekend. First time it was 1/2 an hour and second time an hour before she cooled off enough to start. Pretty frustrating. I called my dealer who contacted KTM and got auth for a new fuel pump. Sounds like PABiker was right. Will update thread once new pump is in.
