Hello everyone.

I am doing the fork service on my 2010 FE450. I cannot find my service manual. Can someone tell me what kind of oil I need to put in them? Brand, Weight, etc.

Thank you

5W sir, always 5W there are several Utube videos you can follow about the subject. I believe you have the last year of open cartridge forks right?

cheers

well you can try 115mm air gap. if you find that you can't 'bottom out' when riding just syringe about 10cc from each leg.

slaven racing do some good videos on Utube.

Honestly I dont know what to do with that info? I understand the fluid mechanics but how to apply it in real life? How are you using it?

Myself I go for a more pragmatic solution:
Find a good 5W and then stick to the same brand to get the same result. Tweak air gap as Taffy said and leave the valve tweaking to proffesionals (unless you really have a keen interest and time).

How do you know you are getting a 5w? Because it’s labeled as such?

Oil height has nothing to do with weight/viscosity.

I use putoline and stick to it. others; motul but sticking to one oil cuts out all the hassle...except here of course.

True I dont know. I use Öhlins 5W. It might be 6.5 or 4.3. Does it matter for me? No. It works as intended and as long as I keep using the same I will get the same result.

Ofcourse height got nothing to do with weight or viscosity, that comment was for the general maintemance he is doing.
