So I have a new to me 2010 FE450, it only has about 17hrs on it, bought it with just over 14hrs.
Today, I took it out for a long ride with some buddies and started having trouble getting it started.
It seemed like the battery was dead, I would hit the button and it would turn over once and quit, or just click. A bump start would get it back on its way. This issue was very hit and miss though. Sometimes I could start it up 3-4 times and it would be fine, then others it would just click.
So fast forward, I get it back home and hook a volt meter up to check my voltages, and it seems like the stator/regulator is not putting out adequate voltage. Static battery voltage is around 12.2. At idle its around 12.3-4, higher RPM I can get maybe 12.5-6v out of it. So it seems to be a stator issue at this point.
Anyone have specs on how to test the charging system components? Seems weird that I would have stator issues on this bike with such low run time.
Thanks in advance
