Hi all, I've got a 2010 FE390 that has been amazing until two months ago when it died on me while out on a ride. Engine would turn over but would just not fire. Replaced the fuel pump and that seemed to do the job.
Got back out on the trail, started the bike and it would idle for about 10 seconds then die. It gets a bit better when the bike warms up but it will still stall when i am off the throttle (going downhill) and also sputters and missfires when i open the throttle at low rpms. Feels like its down on power too at low rpm's.
Any thoughts/tips would be welcome!

I would look at the following
-fuel filter in tank and inline if you have one?
-TPS
-injector

I'm sure you'll get much more help from many other far more informed berg guru's on here.

Fellow berg rider in toronto also.

This to me sounds like you have a clogged injector.

If you cant figure it out, I highly recommend bringing it to Langs Off Road. about 2 hours west of the city. The owner was a husaberg tech back in the day and know these bikes well.

They got my bike sorted quick after I spent to much time chasing an intermittent problem a few seasons ago.

How old is the spark plug ? Seen it more than once. I would pull it and replace it just for you can say that's not it.

Thanks for all the advice guys, just an update on the progress:
This weekend I removed the throttle body and cleaned out the injector. Put it all back together and started the bike up. Initially it sounded great, good idle and no issues when throttling up. Turned the bike off and went to grab my helmet for a test ride, started again and after 15 seconds of idling....same issue.
The bike has no problem turning over, it fires up first time and for the first 15 seconds it idles great.... then slowly the idle will go down until the bike dies.
I've tried to adjust idle speed, no real change.
Sparkplug looks fine and the issue seems to be fuel related.
I havent retested pressure on fuel pump as it is brand new but maybe i'll just do that for peace of mind.
Could it be the fuel mixture? Is there a way to set the mixture on the throttle body?
Could the injector just be shot?

It is very likely the injector or another component within the system is experiencing some blockage or there is a leak in the high pressure side of the system within the tank. Mine would behave in the exact same manner when there was a fuel supply issue. Start fine and then struggle to idle and flame out once it had been running for a short period.

It is pretty hard to effectively clean the injectors with DIY methods and some shops even seem to struggle in fully cleaning them.

Did you replace the in tank and cone filters when you changed the pump?

Pull the spark plug boot check it with an ohm meters should be 5k . If it doesn’t grab the threaded lug that goes in the wire pull it out with needle nose pliers clean up the carbon on the end with a dremmel or brush apply some die electric grease re assemble and let us know if this helped. This happened to 4 bergs and I think it’s plagued most 4 strokes as a hidden issue causing flame outs

Hi guys, just wanted to post an update. So i pulled and cleaned the injector again and there seems to have been still some particles of dirt stuck in there.
Also replaced all the fuel filters and cleaned out the gas tank. I also put in a new inline filter just infront of the injector unit (2010 models didnt come with it apparently).
Also changed the sparkplug.... just because.

And.... it worked. It is riding better than ever. Now I remember why i loved the bike so much to start with.

Thanks so much for all the help and advice guys!

If you don’t have one put in a fuel sock at tank filler neck. The cleaner the fuel the better. Also not a bad idea to use injector cleaner once and awhile. Your post reminded Me I should replace the spark plugs on most of my bikes 9 years with the same plug

You can plug the injector into the electrical connector. Use a few sections of vac hoses and a connector. Slide it over the injector feed can of carb cleaner. Unplug your fuel pump. Have someone crank the bike while you are spraying the carb cleaner. Have the injector laying in a towel. Be surprised the stuff that comes out of the injector.

Do you get any flame outs if so do the very simple carbon clean off from the spark plug boot lug . Check it first if it reads 5k ohms it’s good if not clean it I posted on the first page
