Just getting ready to put this clutch in my bike. I've checked the instructions and am getting everything ready to go in. Does anyone have any tips for things not covered in the instructions? Rekluse says to not use the thin friction plate with the steel washer at the bottom of the clutch pack unless the clutch squeals. Is that normal or do most people end up putting them in?

Thanks

I just did what the manual told me to and it has been working fine for the last1.5 year. Go for the heaviest springs, that was the only way for my exp2.0 to work on my 570.

How do you mean it was the only way it would work? Would it slip with the 3 red and 3 blue?

I had no problem with the recommended springs on my 450.. One thing to note though, make sure your free-play is adjusted good. If the clutch feels like it is slipping, re-adjust it. Mine was slipping slightly and I didn't really notice until it was too late and there was a big groove worn into my pressure plate. (Rekluse fiber sits against the aluminum pressure plate face). I ended up upgrading to the Core as it comes with a pressure plate machined to accept a steel plate so it cannot wear out like the OE setup.

No, the opposite. Without the strongest springs the clutch would never disengage for me.

Thanks newgen. I have the full kit with the clutch baskets.

Jon - so without 6 blue springs it would always drag? Couldnt stop it from creeping?

I use the 6 gold springs. They were the heaviest. I can take a look at my manual later today to be sure.
And yes, even with my clutch handle fully engaged the bike moved while idling.

Anyway, you could try the recommended first. Its a quick fix to change them out if you need to. If the clutch never disengage you know what you can try :)

Put in the standard set-up the clutch came with. Did the suggested break in and then went riding. It feels incredible. I find it easier to wheelie now. Love that I can still use the clutch manually. Feels just a touch heavier than before. It's easier to find neutral than bikes with the z start it seems. Up shifts even at speed are very smooth. Need to train myself to not blip the throttle on downshifts. Could feel it lock up when I did that. Steep slippery climbs are easy. Bit of throttle keeps the engine braking on downhills. In fast turns I can just stomp the back brake to change direction, release the brake and feel the clutch lock up and drive out of the turns very smoothly.
