2009 Husaberg sub frame material

On the 2009 570 FE I've torn or pulled out the right side course thread bolt twice, which holds the lower tip of the combo fender, side molding onto the sub frame, very close to where the muffler meets the pipe. The problem I have is that the hole is now stripped & won't hold a stock bolt/screw so I've used a heavy wood screw.

I tried melting the plastic with a soldering iron but it doesn't seem to work, has anyone had any experience with fixing the holes in this plastic stuff?

While I'm at it, I'm a bit puzzeled as to how I'm ripping the plastic off, is it being torn off from trees, or is it popping off when the bike goes back on the tail of the fender.
Has anyone else experienced this? We are riding rough terrain plenty on trees, thick bush, rocks logs etc. etc.

I'm still super happy with the bike but I can see the draw back with the plastic sub frame, a metal frame would have retained the bolt and just torn the fender off.

Thanks Will

Will, call Corrie, at Brewster West, in Turner Valley, he has welded a subframe fuel tank for a snow bike, so he knows the composition. I have done the same, I think the fender is tight, and falling may pull the plastic and pull the screw out. I have heard guys using the cutoff end of a zip tie to fill the hole, then thread the fastener in.

that only works for so long.

I stripped out one of the top mounts on my black rear fender. I tried the tie wrap end fix but I ended up drilling it through and using a bolt/nut. The weight of the fender, inner fender, license plate assembly and turn signals was too much.

this obviously won't be an option into the subframe though. the bolt I put in goes through the corner of the subframe and attaches to the fender. I did all 4 and used stainless button heads w/ washers. it doesn't look bad at all.

Yes, the rear fender will tear away the screws after some time. I repaired mine and then glued the fender to the subframe with silicon and now the screws are holding, because there are no stress and vibrations between 2 parts.
