I'm curious if anyone with the new model has shortened the wheelbase on their bike...stock chain is 118 links and puts the rear wheel way back consequently more weight on the front wheel...I have moved mine with a 116 link I had on hand and it seems to make the bike more flickable without sacrificing stability...comments?

Hi, Stock on my 570 was 116 and i like 14/52 gearing . This meant the wheel was chewing a hole in the mudflap so i have changed to 118.
The front end is way lighter than my 530 ktm so i dont see an issue there unless it starts tucking in. If i had say 13/50 i would def stick with 116.
Also, if you measure the wheelbase on these bergs and the newer 07/08 ktms, even with the wheel right back it is still about 20mm shorter than the RFS ktms.
I am riding in a few days so i will see how the heavier spring and 118 works.

even less weight on the front........... is anyone finding any negatives at all to this huge change in forward weight transfer... perhaps mid corner?... anything?

Bushie

Bushie, In a nutshell NO.

I am pretty cautious to give out too much info until i have covered a few rides and a race but honestly, my 570 is the best supension straight out the crate i have ever had on a bike.
Idid a 100mile route on my ktm530 a few weeks ago (and the 530 is totally set up susp, clickers, damper etc) and came off 3 times, twice the front tucked in and once i got cross rutted.
Then did the same route in worse conditions with nothing set up on the 570 and didnt come off once, it tracked straight and true thro ruts and flicked in & out through gnarly woods no problem.
Infact it was so good i am now worried i have fitted a heavier spring and damper etc that it might be worse rather than better
