2009 FE 570 USA VERSION LIGHT QUESTION

I have a 09 FE 570 USA version and had the headlight and tail light accessory kits provided. After installing both the headlight and taillight they will not come on when bike is started. My question is... is there a jumper or fuse that must be installed? There were no installation instructions provided, any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, I've just tried installing the factory headlight and taillight and have the very same issue, plugged in no problem once I found the taillight connector and yup, start the bike, no lights. I was going to post the very same issue this morning but you beat me to it.
I'm a new Berg owner and am at a loss for what to try next. Hopefully someone here can help us....

IIRC, there is a jumper somewhere that you use to enable this. My dealer installed my lights before I picked up the bike so I am not sure about this. I am sure someone will jump in with the answer.

Greetings,

I had the same problem with my tail light, I used the wiring schematic to figure out where to put the jumper. I only needed the jumper for tail light as I installed a X2 HID light with it's own wiring.

I think the best solution for you guys is to purchase the stock headlight switch, that's where the factory "jumper" is, on the switch.

However, if you wish to make a jumper here is how to hook it up.

There is a 6 pin multi plug behind the number plate, that's where the stock headlight switch plugs into, and it has the following wires in it: The stock head light switch also has a yellow/black wire that goes to the ignition to provide for the kill switch. THIS YELLOW/BLACK IS NOT ON THE MULTI PIN CONNECTOR BEHIND THE NUMBER PLATE IT IS ONLY ON THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ITSELF.

Green: Low beam wire for the stock head light.

Blue: High beam wire for the stock head light, as well as the high beam indicator.

Grey: Horn.

White: Tail light, and source for the brake light switches. (Thats why the white has a jumper to the green/white wire back at the tail light hook up plug)

Brown: This the common or ground.

Yellow: This is the hot wire that comes from the fuse block, Fuse #3. This wire, as well as the rest of the fuse block is only energized once the motor is running via the power relay.

So, if you want your head light and tail light to come on when you start the bike, you will have to put a jumper between the yellow and the white. And one from the yellow to the green for low beam, OR, one between the yellow and the blue. I would strongly advise against running the low beam and the high beam at the same time. The original system was not designed that way, and it may be way too much heat for the head lamp with both filaments running, so take your pick.
