last year of old style bike , I bought new and have 25 hrs of run time , regular oil changes , full synthetic
,clean oil filters ,air cleaner , taffy carb kit , WR 250 F Overflow water bottle added. , runs great Love the bike but i was just wondering if i need to do the ::double valve spring change by taffy:: , as i have not been able to find the year and model i have in regards to any known problems .

any reply"s would be great . Chilliwack B.C.

Depending on how hard you rev the bike, I'd be thinking of swapping them out at between 100 and 200 hrs max. You'll need a cam chain then too, so do both. I did, at about 160 hrs OTTOMH on my 650. It doesn't need to rev much for the riding I do.

Might be different next weekend, got 4 days in the Murray Sunset desert coming up, yippee.

I did the valve spring conversion to my 08 - 450 A lot of expense for very little if any gain.

The gain is about preventative maintenance, avoiding an even more costly broken spring, which will happen without warning with the conicals.

my conicals were sacked out at 200 hrs they still worked fine but were shorter than they should have been.

becasue of that the DVSK increased the seat pressure in my bike, I cleaned up the spring ends and made special thin shims but the seated pressure was still higher. when I went to OS 36/32 valves I recut the seats so the installed length came out how I wanted it.

on my 400 three years ago, I firstly fitted the kibblewhite's and then went to the ones I have now but they were shorter at the time and needed 3mm of packing under them. I wrote the article at the time before I started in business and said how I could feel the difference at low revs. I should think it was in my 2007 race season report.

I can no longer get those original springs but I DID get their strengths clarified and at 1mm more compressed than I would like the seated pressure should still only be 72LB which beats the 100LB of OEM.

nobody with DVSK is knocking out cam chains or tuliping valves....

regards

Taffy
