2008 FE 550 Headlight Problem

Hi Guys,

First time posting here, just bought myself a 2008 FE 550 and I love it. I am new to husaberg but the power OMG the Power is amazing!!!

Anyway it is plated and I need to get it through the MOT test but unfortunately the headlight won't work. I got a new bulb because the last one was blown but no joy. I was told by the previous owner that he thought the problem was with the actual headlight switch so I got a replacement. Tried that out and the indicator, horn and kill switch work just like on the old switch so I can only assume that's not the problem either.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Hi Bokane,

Have you run a multimeter between each of the three connectors the bulb plugs into and a good earth? You should get 12volts on at least one with the lights on.
If you do and the light still isn't working your earth could be bad.
If your getting nothing there it could be the wire to the light switch is faulty.

No I have not tried that. But I will now. Electrics confuse me so I generally stay away but I'm determined to not let this one beat me.

If you haven't got a wiring diagram already you can get one from the owners docs on here,
get a good strong coffee down you and work your way through nice and slowly.
If you think a wire is dodgy do a resistance test from one to the other to make sure it isn't broken inside the coating.

Just to make sure...
It will only light when it's running.
Any testing needs to be done with the engine running.
Does the taillight and brake light work? (when it's running)

Yes the brake light and tail light work when it is working. Indicators horn and kill switch work too. Only the headlight won't work.

Ok so I got the headlight working. I replaced the killswitch and ran the bike and it worked. I never tried it stupidly with the engine running because the horn and indicators worked without the engine running so thanks for the advice.

Now I have another problem though the tail light doesn't seem to be working. Both front and back brake lights work but no taillight..... Any ideas?
