I have always charged the battery with a trickle charger: I attach the positive clip to the positive battery peg, and the negative clip to the negative wire bolt where it attaches on the starter motor. I recently put in a light weight lithium battery works well, but first ride I have developed a gremlim in the motor, most likely electical where the motor cuts out every now and again. Page 45 of the 2008 owner's manual says " to avoid damage to the on board electronic system, always disconnect the minus pole before you charge the battery" Would this apply to trickle chargers? Would this be the souce of the 'cut out gremlin'? How do you attach your battery trickle chargers?
