Hello, ive bought some samco hoses and clamps but before I swap them over i was wondering what the best coolant is to buy for these engines ?

looked into the waterless coolants but im not convinced so wanted to stick with a water based one.

anyone have any advice on this ?

thanks in advance!

I use pentafrost sf. It's pink, and comes in a 1-1/2L bottle.

30-40 % coolant, the rest is distilled H2o.

Just make sure you've got some element of anti-freeze in there if the temperature starts dropping over here.

Carl, what do you use ?

I wont be using it much over winter tbh and it lives in my house :)

but anti freeze will be handy just in case my cars wont start (common problem) or I have to make a theatrical off road escape from the zombie apocalypse (not a common problem)

edit - ive made some mods sine I last posted pics :) but ive ruined the tank :( the tank shattered and had to be re weilded, so all the paint was stripped off the front.

it should be out of the fabrication place on monday then it will go to the painters for a new design and paint job, its got loads of carbon on now and the fabricator is making the front numberboard/headlight so should look ace when its all done.

Just checked and must have ditched the anti-freeze bottle.
I've had Maxima Cool Aid in over the summer with no problems.

Look forward to seeing your pics, mine is still in development! Been on the road briefly, just got the engine back together again now so time to start playing with proper Flattrack type exhausts and number boards.

Don't think i'll get away with bringing it indoors though!

Direct from the 2005 service manual: Trouble shooting section
Engine gets too hot:
"Continue driving speedily". If your bike were a 2005 I would recommend that you "continue driving speedily" as the best coolant. However, you may want to try water wetter for the track and prestone for the road.
