Does anyone know any measurements for a 2007 Side stand?

I have the lower half of the old stand that snapped, But don't have the top part or the springs, And I was wondering if anyone has dimentions for it to I can make a new one

Thanks

from the outside of the toe to the top of the curved head is 108cm. if you get that right and then go to weld the spring you should be good. make the SS first.

if you think the bike lays over too far etc it is usually because the sidestand bracket is weakening and bowing out. if you fit the SS and whack the bracket back into the correct shape you'll find the bike sits on the SS nicely.

you need all the pressure to go down the shaft.

This chingadera?

Shoulder to end 35.5mm
Shoulder to center of bolt hole 25mm
Across it is 22.25 (width)
Thickness 11.76 (worn possibly)
~9mm hole

I'd get the end tacked on there then;
When you fit the spring and it is stowed in riding position, sight down it with your eyeball from above the rear.

It should be on the same plane as the exhaust can, but rest just inboard a little.

Looking at it from the side, and you pull it down at the end 30-40mm at that point its in line with the can.

I managed to get the broken off bit,
Do you know how much of an angle it's supposed to be on compared to the rest of it?

It's broken at the exact same point as the picture above

My stand is broken exactly like the one above, and I have a question.

Do I need to just clean up all the edges and weld it straight on? Or do i need to weld it on an angle?

It's tricky, if it mates up nicely you should be able to just weld it.

It's angled two ways.

I'll try and map out where it rests on the ground in relation to two fixed points aka, the wheels.

Also, I'll try and get a couple measurements in the stowed position.

Maybe a couple more pics would help as well.

I'd been meaning to doit, but was busy and figured you had a post to lean it up against.

I have no way of measuring the angle.

It is when deployed, 40mm forward of front edge of stock left footpeg.
385mm out from center of wheels.

Mind you, mine broke as well, but it was a clean break and I welded it back exactly how it broke.

Anyway, that should get you close enough. Mine is shorter, I cut a little off of it (FE sidestand) to work with both 21/18 and 17's. If yours is an FE stand, a few mm further forwards, and a cm further out than what i wrote above would probably be better.

I pushed the pictured straight edge up to each side of the tire and marked the ground, then marked center. Front wheel was straight when doing so.

Right that's one set of questionable specs.

Now the stowed position..

I measured 40cm from the center of the sidestand bolt and marked the center of the tube.. Then from there, it's 338mm to the boss for the exhaust hanger. Or actually I think you can just make sure it's parallel to the left side subframe tube. I dint want to take off the seat and plastics to check. Maybe I have a pic on my pb without the rear section.

Idk if I got any decent pictures.. The flash is slow and it's dark out..

Don't want to lose this^^, so pics are next.

Edit: no pics, they are either washed out or dark.

Anyone know how the springs go on an 07?

I've got a spring, and it's got a smaller wire spring inside it but have no idea how to install it

Thanks

you need a 'C' clip at the top in the frame loop. then the two springs hang from that.

you'll only get it sorted by hooking the springs up to the 'C' firtst and the sidestand WITHOUT it being bolted in the frame. then pull the SS and slip it in the pocket on the frame.

Usually the 'C' is too big and the SS slops and flops around.

don't let that happen. shorten it to suit so that with the stand up there is no flop.

Oh thanks didn't realise I was missing that part
I'll have a look how much they are :)

Are the springs meant to be inside eachother?

Matt

Before I forget, 223mm from center of bolt to center of attachment point at rear. (sidestand stowed)

The C clip... I made one out of a spoke..

Pics to follow, and I'll measure the length of the c clip. **46mm overall.

I hook the inner spring first, then the heavy spring with it bolted up and stowed. But as Taffy said, it's easier to hook the springs on first, and then bolt it up.
