Hey all,

Looking at a 2006 Husaberg FS650 and was just wondering if anyone on here could shed some light on a few things for me.

1 - Service interval
2 - Reliability
3 - Spare parts

Also it would be my first motard, have had other bikes though. Tossing up between this and a 2010 DRZ400SM.

Seller wants AUD$6000 for the Husaberg, the suzuki dealer wants AUD$9500 for the DRZ

The bike would be used for commuting and having fun on the weekends, I've read the "Owners Doc" wiki aswell

Thanks!!

Gday MD,

1. I change the oil every 500km, change the oil filter & check valve clearances every 1000km. (Commuting + weekend fun.)

2. Not had any problems with my 08, 100hrs & 4000km on it now.

3. Parts are fairly easy to get through Oz Berg dealers or KTM dealers if you get stuck.

Where in Oz are you?

Au$6000 sounds like an ok price. Service history? Hrs/Km?

I'd say go the Berg every time, more than worth the time spent doing some quick and easy maintenance when due....

Hey mate I have a 2005 fs650e, just bought it and love it. Nice quick and light! I do servicing every 10 hours and it treats me well!!

Do it ;)

Howdy Mad dog, I have the 2004 FS650E. As Bayside Berg mentioned, I change the oil every 10 hrs too, change the cartridge filter every other oil change, always clean out the little mesh filter next to the sump plug.

Also, would agree that pound for pound, you'll get fantastic performance/weight ratio on these bikes, especially compared with the more sluggish "street tamed" "supermotos" that hit the market when the sport took off.

Only word of caution I would give, would be to the reliability of the OEM conical valve springs, I had 3 or 4 fail in a 3 year period, with varying degrees of damage per failure.

I would recommend the dual valve spring kits on offer on the internet. I got mine from Taffy, & haven't looked back since.

Cheers

Crispin

As mentioned earlier i do oil and filter every 10 hrs.
Last night i checked my valve clearances....WOW!
The guy i bought it of said he had them done at 90hrs and it now has 160 hours.
Guess what..?? PERFECT! No adjustment needed.....
I LOVE MY BERG!!!
