2005 or 2007 FE550E Need advice!!

I have lurked on this site for some time and have found the wealth of information available great. Thanks for all the info. Unfortunately sometimes too much information can also scare off new purchases. I put some $ down on a brand new 2005 fe550 last week and can't wait for my first ride on the beast. (I am fortunate to have a local dealer that has a genuine interest in the Husaberg product!) Since then, I have paid closer attention to the threads that discuss main bearing failures. I try to take everything I read with a grain of salt, people seldom take time to post when things are going well and the forum is an excellent way of discussing common issues in the effort to resolve them. All that said to get to my point...Should I spend the extra $$ to get the 2007 with the strengthened case at the main and increased tolerance crank in the effort to reduce future frustration? It seems to me that Husaberg wouldn't have made changes to the 2007 without good reason. Or, under normal use, will the 2005 provide the reliability that one would expect from a bike such as this? ( I am not a racer, I am looking for a good woods bike that will be dual sported for short trips to work (less than 10 km one way))

Thanks for the quick replies. I appreciate the minor differences that make the 2007 better than the 2005 such as suspension changes and tank size etc. That being said, the 2005 is $2500 cheaper than the 2007 and I am more than willing to accept those differences. I am a laid back novice off road rider that is moving up from a 1983 XL600R so the 2005 should be light years ahead of what I am familiar with. The only issue that concerns me and would probably pry more money from my wallet would be if reliability is going to be an issue with the 2005.

Is there any correlation to rider technique and the bearing failures? Do they fail when used for extended road trips or is it due to using the higher end of the rev spectrum? (I don't tend to rev my machines too much at present but who knows what kind of monster I'll become when I try the Berg!)

Yes, it comes with a 1 year warranty. Sounds like the 1 year warranty can be had for the 2007 for an extra $200. The last 11 months are non-factory warranty and I am not sure if the bearing is considered normal wear and tear.

Well, today I succombed! Switched the '05 for an '07!! Dealer made me an offer on the new one with 1 year warranty that I couldn't refuse. Can't wait for my first ride. (dual sport kit to be installed this week). Hopefully the snow will be gone by the weekend so that I can start the break-in. Thanks to all for the much needed advice.
