2005 fs650e - red hot headers

I have just bought a 2005 fs650e which has a full akrapovic system and whilst letting it warm up i noticed the header pipes were glowing orange ? Do all 650's do this ? This would suggest the bike is running very lean so I have tried to richen up the setting on the carb but had very little effect.

Just wondering if anyone has had similar findings with their Berg and did you manage to get the headers to stop glowing hot ? I'm also looking for some jetting tips to suit the akrapovic.

Cheers

I have the same model and exhaust and had this problem when too lean of pilot jet was installed so what pilot jet size do you have in it? try at least a 50 or 55.

Even when jetted correctly the head pipes will glow red hot when just sitting in one place idling. The first time I saw this happen on my brand new '96 FE501 years ago I got concerned but it is nothing to worry about - it's just the nature of the beast.

Thanks very much for the feedback guys this is the first Berg I have owned so the glowing headers was certainly an eye opener.
Thanks for the jetting advice I have switched to a 50 Pilot jet and pretty sure that has helped a bit, it also idles better on cold start. so good results all round.

Cheers for your help

Mine has only glowed red hot when 45 pilot was installed a 50 or 55 pilot might be a bit rich but it starts a hell of alot easier when cold. Such a small change can make a large difference (thats what my wife say's anyway lmao)
