2005 FE550 Signal Light Issue

I have a new to me 2005 FE550 with a lighting/signal kit installed. When I bought the signal lights weren't on, but the switch and wiring were present. I have been through the whole system and referred to the wiring diagram, but can't get the signals to light up at all.

I've connect an ohm meter to the wires and all connections are good. I've 'jumped' the switch at the handlebar to see if that was the issue - but no luck. No voltage shows up with the volt meter and can't get the lights to light up at all.

Only thing I can figure out is that the signal relay switch is missing.... I've attached a photo showing where it should be. Is it likely that this missing relay would cause this issue?

Just to be clear, you are talking about the turn signals?

You definitely need a relay to get the turn signals flashing as the should and as far as I could see in the wiring diagram that should be the connector to connect to the relay. :)

Thanks. Yes - the turn signals. Will it need to be a specific Husaberg relay?

Well......put in a generic 12 volt signal relay. Still no luck - no signal at all. Talking with a friend (who builds electron accelerators for a living)...he was suggesting that different signal relays may draw different amounts of current, and perhaps the one I put in (a generic one for a car) may be drawing the incorrect amount? I've also tried jumping the connection at the relay to bypass the relay to see if I could even get a solid light...but no luck.

I will go through all the wiring again, but all seems to check out with the ohm meter. I will check the brown wire power feed to make sure juice is getting to the signal light plug in at the harness....

Not sure what else to check..... :?:

The brown cable is ground/earth and should (somewhere) be connected to the chassi, otherwise you won't get a closed circuit.

Power is fed through the red/yellow cable connected to the relay, so by jumping the red/yellow cable with the orange cable from the handlebar switch you should be able to to get a signal when turning the flasher switch. (not flashing but still...) To by pass the handlebar switch you can connect the red/yellow cable with either the blue (right side) or purple cable (left side).

Do not connect the red/yellow cable directly with a brown cable.
