2005 fe550 questions

I am considering buying a used fe550 with aprox. 1700km. I am wondering if there is any known problems or needed upgrades with this model. I am considering selling my xr650r for something with similar power but much lighter, is this the correct assumption?

Also, will this bike be as reliable and as easy to maintain as my 650.

No problems in particular to worry about. Yes, the maintenance intervals are more frequent on the Berg.
The bike should be somewhat reliable, but then you are comparing it to one of the more reliable big bore bikes available.

as fast as the 650 and a lot lighter. no problems but oil changes are important. you'll also fancy yourself as a home mechanic so go for it!

Xr's, Drz's, ride them then hang 'em up wet and go again next week and all is good, the berg needs some lovin, an oil change a check over, no big deal really, if you are willing to spend a bit of time then the rewards will be worth it.
