Was wondering is anyone able to inform me as to whether i need to change the rear sprocket and drive cog (or any other aspect) on my newly aquired 2005FE.
At the moment it is at the mechanics being pulled apart. The last owner informed me that the cam chain broke and gutted the top end (was this a common problem for the 2005 FE??? heard it may have something to do with the cam chain tightening bolt/screw/nut??) I am having the mechanic split the case of the bottom end to check bore, valves, sleeve ect. for any damage.
The bike came with some slick looking brand new Excel motard rims and I intend to use it mainly for road use with a little if any off road use. I live in a small Australian coastal town with reasonably good sealed roads and would ride maybe 3-4 kilometers to work and back. A trip into the larger town where I do my shopping is about an hour and a half away roughly 126km's drive ride. I would use the bike daily and cover short distances (At speed of course) with the occaissional trip up the coast.
So back to the question at hand, it is advisable to adjust the set up of the bike to accomodate road use. Any feedback would greatly be appreciated.
P.S I included my detailed description of living environment to give a better indication of what the bike is likely to endure when ridden.
